Social event – visit to Memorial
On Friday 8/9, the scientific program ends at 18:30.
The Memorial of the Battle of Waterloo is located at a short distance from the conference venue. For those who registered for the private visit of the Memorial, a mini-bus transfer is provided between 18:00 – 20:40 (see schedule below). Alternatively, you can embark on a pleasant 15-minute journey by foot through the battlefield, weather permitting. We recommend comfortable walking shoes. The Memorial is also easily accessible by car (5 minutes) (see map below): as you leave the Farm, you will have to turn right; directly at the traffic circle, make a U-turn and drive to the first traffic lights, where you will have to turn right. After 500 meters, you will find a parking on your right, close to the restaurant.
The Memorial is fairly large. A viewing of a 3D movie will start at 19:00, 19:20 and 19:40. Impressive cannon firings will take place at the foot of the mound from 19:40 to 20:30. Please find below the timings of your visit.
Of note, if you would like to climb the Lion’s Mound (226 steps, 40 meters), bring appropriate walking shoes with you.

Cocktail & Gala Dinner
The Cocktail will take place at the Memorial Museum. The Gala Dinner at the Ferme de Mont Saint-Jean will begin at 21:00. The Cocktail can be enjoyed outdoors for those who wish; remember to bring a little shawl of outerwear, as the weather can be chilly.
Scientific program
As you can see on the scientific program, the Symposium is organized in 3 parallel rooms, with 2 plenary sessions and a “Meet the Masters” session.
Plenary sessions will adhere to the conventional format. On the other hand, the “Meet the Masters” session introduces a brand new format that aims to be engaging and casual. These sessions will take place with a smaller number of participants, so as to favor direct contact between the speakers and the participants. The idea is to be able to have easy-going discussions, to see certain basic surgical techniques (“How I do it”), or more elaborate ones, to discuss certain cases.
Ultimately, I hope that you will have enjoyed the symposium!
